Past Minigrant Projects 2005-2006

Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (lead), Mexico and Rancho Santiago Community College District (partner), USA.
Proposal is to build a working relationship between Universidad Autónoma de Guadaljara (UAG) and the Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) in several areas developing a Business Center program.  The proposed pilot will enable us to collaborate in the area of business development based on mutual needs and interests; funds will be available for future work based on grants to Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara from the Small Business Administration (SBA).  The ultimate goal for UAG is to create a project with the objective of giving students the necessary tools to start and develop a sustainable business in order to avoid unemployment and to, become a productive member of society.

St. Louis Community College (lead), USA; Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (partner), México; and Universidad Tecnológica de León (partner), Mexico.
Proposal is to initiate a collaboration between St. Louis Community College (SLCC) and two Mexican educational institutions, Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UNICO) and Universidad Tecnológica de León (UTL).  This project will establish and lay the groundwork for future growth of relationship between SLCC and both UNICO and UTL by focusing efforts in three areas:  1) exploring opportunities for sharing or collaborating on curriculum development and teaching of English as a second language;  2) exploring opportunities for sharing or collaborating on international business curricula;  and 3) near-term staff cross-cultural experiences and discussions that may lead to exchange of faculty and students in the future.

Collége communuautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick- Bathurst Camp (lead), Canada and Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de la Región Carbonífera (partner), México
Proposal is for Collége communuautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick- Bathurst (CCNB-Bathurst) to partner with Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de la Región Carbonífera (ITESRC) in the area of technology transfer, specifically through e-learning experience, cross-cultural experience and Project management.

Grand Rapids Community College (lead), USA; CONALEP- Jalisco (partner), México; and CONALEP-Tabasco (partner), México.
Proposal is for Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) to enter in a new international partnership with CONALEP.  Through a faculty of exchange program learning environments, best practices, and curricula for each institution will be explored to better prepare students and community for the global workforce.  The ICEED grant will be used to support the initial development, implementation, and growth of a faculty exchange program between GRCC and CONALEP.

New Brunswick Community College (lead), Canada and Universidad Tecnológica de Hermosillo (partner), Mexico
Proposal is for New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) and Universidad Tecnológica de Hermosillo (UTH) to work together on the development of International Entrepreneurial Internship (IEI).  Both institutions are proposing that the IEI is an effective approach to build on the UTH led achievements of the ICEED project the partner shared last year.  This proposed exchange will allow graduates to develop entrepreneurship skills as they carry out (research) opportunity identification and assessment tasks at home, then produce business and marketing plans for international trade (import and export) between México and Canada to implement during the internship.

Dirección General de Educación Tecnológica Industrial-Tamaulipas (lead), Mexico and St. Clair College (partner), Canada.
Proposal is to establish mechanisms of cooperation between St. Clair College (SCC) and the Dirección General de Educación Tecnológica Industrial-Tamaulipas (DGETI-Tamaulipas) in an effort to generate a product or service for learning English. This service is a necessary tool for the labor force and educational systems of Tamaulipas. Also, this new system shall be applied to the new curriculum reform of the technical institute.
